Chen Han Wei (Chinese: 陈汉玮; born in Malaysia August 29, 1969 of a Chinese descent), is a MediaCorp TV contracted artiste in Singapore. He is a permanent resident of Singapore.
Chen grew up and lived in Kampung Ungku Mohsin, Johor Bahru. Born into a poor family, Chen nonetheless excelled academically and studied at one of the most famous Chinese independent schools in Malaysia, Foon Yew High School. In addition to excelling in his studies, Chen was also outstanding in drama and music.
In 1988, a friend enrolled Chen in the inaugural season of Singapore Broadcasting Corporation's bi-annual talent contest, Star Search. Chen made it to the finals, and was offered a contract. As his family was unable to pay for his further studies, he decided to take the job at SBC.
In 1997, Chen took a three-year break from acting in order to explore image styling. He returned to the screen in 2000 and continues to be one of the most prolific artistes in MediaCorp.
Other than his acting, Chen is also known for recording the theme songs to several drama series, including both Morning Express and Cupid Love. The theme song for the latter, Guan Huai Fang Shi (关怀方式), remain popular in both Singapore and Malaysia to this day.
